Born of more than one place.
The name honors the Kebra Nagast — "The Glory of Kings" — the great Ethiopian chronicle of lineage. A fitting name for a platform built to pass music down.
I'm first-generation. My father was Oromo, my mother is Black American — Christian, from the church music tradition where a whole room learns to sing in harmony just by listening to each other. My father later remarried into an Amhara family, so I grew up close to that side of Ethiopia too, even as I chose my mother's faith as my own.
Music was the one language that never asked me to pick a side. It moved between rooms, between families, between countries — and it still made sense.
I built Dreams Music Academy on that idea. Kebra is the next one: a platform built so any school, teaching any tradition, in any community, can pass their music down the way it was always meant to be passed — student to student, generation to generation.
This one's for my dad, my mom, and every family like mine that's made of more than one place.
